House Challenge Day!!!

Everyone had a great time at House Challenge day! The Room 6 house captains were awesome leaders and did a wonderful job of supporting and encouraging the children in their teams!

(We also discovered it's much harder to moon hop with longer legs!!!!)

Banana Bread Test!!

Kitchen Chemistry - Baking Banana bread

Rooms 4, 5 and 6 made Banana Bread as part of our Inquiry Unit. The children had to follow the recipe instructions independently. (Our recent  Mathematics capacity work came in very handy during the measuring parts!) The groups worked amazingly together.

Gardening!

Room 6 got busy on Thursday morning at the presbytery and the chapel. As part of our Young Vinnies programme this is an opportunity for us to help out our parish and Monsignor John.
We loved getting stuck in and getting our hands dirty!!!!

Making Hot Cross Buns!!

As part of our Kitchen Chemistry Inquiry,  Room 4, 5 and 6 made Hot Cross Buns on Wednesday.
It was a great learning experience following a recipe and learning what yeast does. The children are learning that Kitchen Chemistry occurs all round us and even in the simplest of forms, such a melting butter or heating something to change its form. The hot cross buns tasted delicious too!!! A big thanks to the Home Economics Department at Kavanagh College for letting us use their ovens!
